The chandelier started as a rough cross made of two pieces of wood with a nail at each end to stick a candle on! Only people living the easy-life used them! Since then, chandeliers have had a long, rich history and in North American culture they are now much more than candle supports.
During the 17th century crystal glass came to be and the traditional form of the chandelier we know now, began! Over the years the creative designs and available materials have resulted in a beautiful metamorphosis of chandeliers! Today they are a purely decorative light source, a crystal drop of elegance!
The most popular materials of the day are bronze and crystal and any type of antique finish. You can spend quite a bit or just a little bit as chandeliers are created in many sizes as well.
If you have a crystal chandelier you'll need to dismantle the crystals and let them soak in warm sudsy water. Rinse them in crystal clear water and then polish them dry with a soft, clean cloth. Your chandelier will sparkle to the high heavens!
Try placing a chandelier in your front entranceway, master bedroom or even the bathroom. (Remember, they come in all sizes.) A chandelier can make more than your dining room a charming place to be.
But the best place to enjoy a crystal chandelier is where the sunlight gleans off of it, splashing your walls with rainbow light, a lively atmosphere in your home!
