Pillow Pleasure
One of life's greatest pleasures is snuggling in for a perfect night's sleep! Many of us have had the experience of the rock hard pillow in the motel or the measly airline pillow on a transatlantic red-eye flight!
When making your house a home think of what small pleasures can enhance your nightly life. Be particular about your pillows. Did you know, for example, that the average lifespan of a healthy pillow is 18 months? Did you know that pillows are harbingers for dust mites? Yes, you could be sleeping with them every night! You're never alone! If you put your pillow in a plastic bag and freeze it that should do away with the mites for a while.
The "crème de la crème" of pillows is called the Hypodown. Try it and you'll find that it's soft and scrunchable! Latex pillows are almost as sumptuous, and more affordable. They're ideal for those who need to keep their neck and back alignment in check.
If the business with mites is ear-itating go for wool pillows. They're inhospitable to dust mites. They're also indestructible, hence firm and not lofty at all. Alpaca is known to be hard-wearing but much softer than wool. If you're into lofty, stay away from silk pillows! Cotton pillows are firm but not as firm as wool. You'll find few allergic reactions here as well.
Down-filled pillows are cuddle perfect and if you don't have problems with allergies you will have a lot of sweet dreams on feathers. But feathers are the worst for dust mites! Hyperclean pillows are made with hypoallergenic down. Lyocell pillows are organic and chemical-free!
There's really something for everyone out there so don't settle for a restless sleep or waking up with a stiff neck and a headache. Do save one of those horrible pillows for company that stays too long! Ha!
