Bedroom Benches
A certain generation grew up with the cedar chest, often one built by a furniture maker, more often one built by a grandfather! You may be lucky enough to have one at the foot of your bed for storing winter blankets or family treasures. If you're not in the lucky category, consider adding a touch of class to your room with a bedroom bench. It serves well for extra seating in your bedroom. You yourself can sit on it to put your socks and shoes on rather than hopping on one foot in the dark and finding the dog's chew-bone under your arch!
For as reasonably as $100 to $150 you can find a beautiful bench, perhaps in wrought iron, perhaps wood, to add comfort to your bedroom. An upholstered bench could tie in with your drapery, for example, or consider a bench which coordinates with your headboard.
To serve you as a space saver as well, look for a bedroom bench with shelving under the seat, with doors concealing the shelves, or even open cubby holes! All of these creations make storage for bedding, books, extra sweaters, or baskets stuffed with your craft projects. Kitties love to hide out in such places.
A bedroom bench can be display space for a collection or an artistic arrangement of extra pillows, dolls, or in itself it can be a collectible antique in your home. Or simply, it can be a convenient place to stack clothing. Your dog would love it, and come to think of it, you might have more leg room at night with him sleeping there on your brand new bedroom bench!
